Correction and Retraction

Correction and Retraction

[IJSTS] Globsports Journal takes its responsibility to maintain the integrity and completeness of the scholarly record of its content for all end users very seriously. Changes to articles after they have been published online may only be made under the circumstances outlined below. [IJSTS] Globsports Journal places great importance on the authority of articles after publication, and its policy is based on best practices in the academic publishing community.

An Erratum is a statement by the authors of the original paper that briefly describes any correction(s) resulting from errors or omissions. Any effects on the conclusions of the paper should be clearly noted. The corrected article is not removed from the online journal; instead, a notice of erratum is published. The erratum is made freely available to all readers and is linked to the corrected article.

A Retraction is a notice indicating that a paper should not be regarded as part of the scientific literature. Retractions are issued when there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, whether due to misconduct or honest error; when the findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper referencing, permission, or justification; when the work is plagiarized; or when the research reported is unethical. To protect the integrity of the scholarly record, the retracted article is not removed from the online journal; instead, a notice of retraction is published, made freely available to all readers, and linked to the retracted article.

Retractions may be published by the authors when substantial scientific errors are discovered. In other cases, the Editors or the Publisher may determine that a retraction is necessary. In all cases, the retraction notice clearly states the reason for the retraction and identifies who is responsible for the decision. If a retraction is made without the unanimous agreement of all authors, this fact is also indicated. In rare and extreme cases involving legal infringement, the Publisher may redact or remove an article. Bibliographic information about the article will be retained to ensure the integrity of the scientific record.

A Publisher’s Note is issued to inform readers that an article has been corrected after publication. Publisher’s Notes are issued by the Publisher and are used when typographical or production errors attributable to the Publisher affect the integrity of the article’s metadata (such as the title, author list, or byline) or significantly impact readers’ ability to understand the article. In such cases, the original article is removed and replaced with a corrected version. Publisher’s Notes are freely available to all readers.

Minor errors that do not affect the integrity of the metadata, do not impair a reader’s understanding of the article, and do not involve scientific errors or omissions may be corrected at the discretion of the Publisher.

When an article is removed and replaced with a corrected version, the date of the correction is clearly indicated on the corrected article. Authors should note that an article may only be removed and replaced with a corrected version within one year of the original publication date. Corrections to articles published more than one year earlier will be documented solely through a Publisher’s Note.
